A week of 05.21-05.25

Glued legs to the column and installed table support.

Case for bookcase was completed and glued up.

Sunburst veneer for candle stand was prepared and glued.
It will stay under the glue press during the weekend.
Hope the top is not warped by the veneer.

Dan gave a lecture and demonstration on carving, which called my itch for carving, one of final topics of furniture making.

A week of 05.14-05.18

Chair workshop has begun.


++

Legs were cut to shape by bandsaw, squared-up by table saw, and dovetails were cut by table saw and chisels.

Table top panel was glued and smoothed.

Housing of the column for leg dovetails was made and fitted.

Sides of legs were beveled by hand planed and legs were smoothed by spokeshave, compass plane, black plane, etc.

Reading of legs was made by using reading box and custom made scratch stock.

+++++++

Table tilt-top mechanism was made.
And legs were smoothed.

Veneers for table top were selected. Curly maple and redwood burl for sunburst, and bird's eye maple for the center.

A week of 05.07-05.11

Full scale drawings of #3 and #4 projects were made.
Lumber for some parts were rough-milled and chisels were honed.
Ready for making.

The column of the candle stand were turned and beading were done.
